    ROSSONERI DEFEAT GENOA ON MD37

    Serie AMay 17th 2026

There it is. The first win of the Serie A season. In front of 56,691 fans at San Siro, AC Milan claimed three points by beating Brescia 1-0 thanks to a Çalhanoğlu goal in the 12th minute. It was a narrow but deserved win for the Rossoneri who did well to break the deadlock early on. Hakan’s goal proved decisive against a tough opponent after he hadn’t scored at home for more than a season. The side put the defeat in Udine behind them to get off the mark and celebrate. Marco Giampaolo's side did well to stick together and be effective and looked more likely to extend the lead rather than concede an equaliser. On the whole, it was a good team performance. There’s still room for further improvement but it was enough for the time-being. Now, it's time for the first international break and AC Milan will return halfway through September away at another newly-promoted side, Hellas Verona.

    MATCH REPORT

After ten minutes of the sides studying one another, Milan took the lead. In the 12th minute, Suso got away down the flank and played a floated cross to Çalhanoğlu who headed home. Bisoli had a massive chance to level in the 20th minute but he fired over from close range. André Silva then missed a chance straight after in the 21st minute when his attempted lob failed to hit the target. Hakan had another go in the 30th minute but couldn’t add a second. In the 35th minute, Gigio made a superb save from a deflected Sabelli strike. The game was rather tight and continued to be so in the second half. In the 48th minute, Castillejo fired over on the run from a Rodríguez cross. In the 72nd minute, Tonali failed to catch Donnarumma out from a free kick. There were then a couple of chance stemming from scrambles in the box. First, in the 81st minute, Calabria blocked from Dessena before Kessié and Borini were unable to finish in the 83rd minute. The Diavolo were on the attack at the end. In the 85th minute, the ball fell for Piątek but he was denied from close range. A powerful Kessié strike went over in the 89th minute ahead of Paquetá hitting the post with his left foot in the 89th minute. Krzysztof was then denied a goal by Joronen twice in the 90th minute.
