    ROSSONERI DEFEAT GENOA ON MD37

    Serie AMay 17th 2026

A bitter taste for AC Milan after losing the Derby 4-2 despite taking a two-goal lead. A comeback that can only be described as a travesty, especially given the high quality of the first half. The start of the second period was decisive, for the worse, as Inter drew level within a matter of minutes. Goals from Brozovic, Vecino, De Vrij and Lukaku cancelled out those from Rebic and Ibrahimović at San Siro. The team’s first half performance was sensational, but the Rossoneri suffered in the second half, losing conviction and clarity. It’s a shame as it was a big missed opportunity for the team to take a big step forward in their league campaign. Coach Pioli's men will have to take stock, rethink their mistakes, dust themselves off and go again. After matchday 23 in Serie A, the Rossoneri remain on 32 points. Next up is the Coppa Italia again on Thursday 13 February at 20:45 CET as we host Juventus at San Siro for the first leg of the semi-final. No rest.

    MATCH REPORT
It was a ferocious start from the Rossoneri, who almost took the lead in the ninth minute as Çalhanoğlu's low, fizzing shot from outside the box thundered against the far post. The Nerazzurri then came to life: in the 19th minute, Godin’s header narrowly missed following a corner, then Donnarumma saved Vecino’s close-range effort after 24 minutes. The game’s spark was lit. The Rossoneri were let loose at the end of the first half: in the 40th minute, Rebić tapped into an empty net after Ibrahimović’s knock-down before Ibra headed past Padelli following Kessie’s flick-on to make it 2-0 going into the break. Inter’s comeback began in the 51st minute when Brozovic cut the deficit with a left-footed volley from outside the box. Two minutes later, Vecino fired home Sanchez’s pull-back to equalise. Not only did the Rossoneri fail to react, they collapsed. De Vrij’s stooping header beat Gigio 70 minutes on the clock and Lukaku sealed the win in added time, heading in after Moses’ cross. Eriksen’s free kick that struck the crossbar and Zlatan’s header against the post split those two goals.
