A SOLID 1-0 WIN AT SAN SIRO

Another Ante Rebić goal secures the points for AC Milan against Torino

Back to winning ways for AC Milan as they came away from matchday 24 of Serie A with all three points after a 1-0 win over Torino at San Siro, Ante Rebić’s fifth goal of the season securing the victory. A solid team performance as the Rossoneri shut out Torino for almost the entirety of the game, the only criticism being the wasted opportunities to kill off any chance of a comeback. AC Milan climb into the spots valid for European qualification with these points, catching up with Verona and Parma in sixth place on 35 points, and now beginning preparations for their next fixture away to Fiorentina on Saturday 22 February.

MATCH REPORT
With Çalhanoğlu out injured, Coach Pioli opted for one man up top tonight, Ibrahimović supported by Lucas Paquetá in behind. AC Milan looked lively right away, Ibra just firing wide of Sirigu’s post with a left-footed shot in the opening minutes. Torino responded as Berenguer blazed over the bar in the 17th minute, before the Rossoneri went down the other end only for Paquetá to be kept out by Sirigu. But the breakthrough arrived in the 26th minute: Castillejo worked his way to the byline and pulled back a perfect cross for Rebić to slot home for 1-0. The goal really sparked our boys into life, and two big chances to double the lead came at the start of the second half: first Ibrahimović curling one wide and then Castillejo smashing his shot against the side-netting from just yards out. One more chance fell to Milan in the 74th minute as Bonaventura fired one wide of the target. Torino then surged forwards in search of an equaliser towards the end, but they created nothing of note and it was a comfortable evening for Gigio Donnarumma. No more drama arrived, and the final whistle blew for a 1-0 win to AC Milan.
