    ROSSONERI DEFEAT GENOA ON MD37

    Serie AMay 17th 2026

Mistakes, negative moments and Milinković-Savić in goal. It was a sub-par night for AC Milan as they lost 2-1 to Torino. The Rossoneri made lives tough for themselves early on in proceedings, gifting the Granata a goal before missing a penalty and switching off for the hosts' second - and winning - goal just after Reijnders had pulled his side level. It's a tough one to take following the Champions League elimination in midweek, which has clearly taken its toll on the team. Luck was against the Rossoneri tonight too, but that can't explain the defeat away.

Sérgio Conceição's Rossoneri will rue their mix-ups, but shouldn't forget the effort put in to equalise and Pavlović's performance at the back. The team need to dust themselves off and try to put their league campaign, and season in general, to rights. Tonight was a big chance to do just that and also gain ground in the race for fourth place. Instead, the Diavolo stay on 41 points after Serie A matchday 26. There are two big games coming up: first, the rearranged fixture against Bologna on Thursday, and then Lazio come to San Siro next Sunday night.

    MATCH REPORT
It started badly. In the 5th minute, a mistake gave Torio the opener: Maignan tried to clear the ball coming off his line but it hit Thiaw and rolled into the net. AC Milan reacted by attacking with Pulisic and Hernández trying to turn things around. A big chance came in the 21st minute: a forward run which freed up Gimenez who took the shot whilst slipping, saved by Milinković-Savić. We kept pressing and in the 24th minute, Gimenez failed once again. In the 33rd minute, Leão won us a penalty with a Pedersen handball but from the spot, Pulisic was kept out by Milinković-Savić who got the the bottom corner. Another threat in the 38th minute, Maignan kept out Pedersen. A few seconds later and Mike proved key once again to deny Vlašić. João Félix had a go in injury time but nothing came from the header.

The Rossoneri started with a change of set-up and players, not managing to get forwards until the 57th minute when Fofana called the goalkeeper into action from a distance. In the 61st minute, Jiménez recovered the ball and set off on the counter, Reijnders to João Félix who took a shot on the turn but was met by Milinković-Savić. Then, we started to push, creating two chances: in the 64th minute, Reijnders’ ball looked unstoppable but Milinković-Savić somehow kept it out and in the 65th minute, Jiménez’s shot went just wide. Having avoided conceding another though Gineitis went close, we went level in the 74th minute: run and cross from Sottil, the ball fell to Reijnders who powered it under the crossbar. No time to even catch our breath and the Granata retook the lead in the 76th minute: Sanabria took a quick free kick, Gineitis got on the end of the ball and shot home. Then came the final assault with Sottil stopped in the final minutes and Pavlović getting away a header to no avail. Final whistle.
