    ROSSONERI DEFEAT GENOA ON MD37

    Serie AMay 17th 2026

A good sign. The Rossoneri take the first round of AC Milan v Bologna as they ran out 3-1 winners at San Siro in the league, ahead of Wednesday's cup final. It was a rather drab first half but a lively second as Conceição's side fell behind to an Orsolini opener before a Gimenez brace and a goal from Pulisic turned it around for the hosts. It was a special win on a special occasion, given that our players wore special shirts to celebrate Mother's Day. Matchday 36 has yielded an upturn in the standings, with the Rossoneri now on 60 points: three off the European places ahead of the remainder of this round of Serie A fixtures.

It's a tough prospect in the league, and there is a risk that there will be no real rewards, but this win is vital for the team's form, because they are approaching a Coppa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday evening. It will be a rematch with the Rossoblù in Rome in the final act of a competition that could end in our second piece of silverware of the season (following the Supercoppa Italiana). Full focus on the objective.

    MATCH REPORT
It was a slow start to the match. After a quarter of an hour, AC Milan put their foot on the accelerator: Pulisic was thwarted by a great block from Lykogiannis (17’), a curling effort from Félix was deflected behind for a corner (18’) and Skorupski saved a Jović header. At the other end, Maignan got down to keep out an attempt from Domínguez (23’). Orsolini also threatened for the visitors, heading off target (42’) and firing over from a very inviting position (44’). In stoppage time, a header from Pobega landed on the roof of the net.

Bologna took the lead at the start of the second half: Dallinga flicked on a long ball for Orsolini, who, up against Pavlović, cut inside and fired into the far bottom corner with his left foot (49’). The Rossoneri looked to respond: Hernández tested Skorupski (62’), after which Félix struck an effort into the stands (71’). Conceição’s men drew level in the 73rd minute: in a move that also involved Félix and Chukwueze, Pulisic found Gimenez, who slotted through Skorupski’s legs. AC Milan had the momentum and completed the turnaround after 79 minutes: a shot from Félix bounced into the path of Pulisic, who swept home to make it 2-1. There was a big scare in the 90th minute as Maignan thwarted Cambiaghi, but the Rossoneri sealed the win through Gimenez, who confidently finished off Chukwueze’s assist (92’). Full-time.
