Seven points in the last three games have given new life to AC Milan in the standings. Concentration levels must remain high, however, in order to achieve the goal of Champions League qualification. It's time for Serie A action again at San Siro, and there is a great fixture on the menu: AC Milan v Napoli, on Sunday 14 March at 20:45 CET. Ahead of kick-off, we have prepared some statistics and curiosities for you surrounding the fixture:
HEAD-TO-HEAD
1- This will be the 146th meeting in Serie A between AC Milan and Napoli: The Rossoneri hold the advantage with 55 wins to 42, while there have been 48 draws.
2- AC Milan are unbeaten in their last four Serie A matches against Napoli (victory in the first round match this season after three consecutive draws): The Rossoneri have not gone five league games unbeaten against the Campanians since 2011 (six in that case). 2010/11 is also the last season in which AC Milan won both their league matches against Napoli.
3- AC Milan have not won a home match against Napoli in Serie A since December 2014 (2-0 thanks to goals from Ménez and Bonaventura): Since then there have been two defeats and three consecutive draws, two of which were 0-0.
CURRENT FORM
4- This is only the fifth time in the era of three points for a win that AC Milan have earned at least 56 points after 26 games played in Serie A. On each of the previous four occasions, (1995/96, 2003/04, 2004/05, 2005/06), AC Milan have finished the season in the top two positions in the table.
GENERAL STATISTICS
5- This season, AC Milan have won 94% of Serie A matches in which they have taken the lead (17/18), more than any other team in terms of percentage: the only exception was the match against Roma in the first round, which ended in a draw.
6- With Dalot and Krunić, AC Milan have now scored with 15 different goalscorers in this season’s Serie A: Only Atalanta (16) can boast a higher number.
PLAYER FOCUS
7- Only Locatelli (185) and Schouten (179) have recovered more balls than Franck Kessie among outfield players in this league season: 178 in 25 appearances for the Ivorian, an average of seven per match, which is his best seasonal average since he started playing in Serie A.
8- After his goal against Verona in the last match, Rade Krunić could score in two consecutive appearances for only the second time in Serie A (the other occasion, however, occurred over two different seasons: May 2017 and August 2018).
9- Jens Petter Hauge's only goal so far in Serie A came in the first round match against Napoli. The Norwegian has not started in the league since January 18 against Cagliari.
COACHES FOCUS
10- Gennaro Gattuso managed AC Milan for 62 matches in Serie A, earning an average of 1.81 points per game: He currently has a record of 1.83 points per game with Napoli. Gattuso has not won either of his two prior matches played as a coach against AC Milan (1D, 1L).
