ROMA V AC MILAN: DUELS

Four of the best individual duels in the big match at the Olimpico

Fourth against second in the table: Roma v AC Milan is a massive clash with ten matches already played in Serie A this season. The match at the Olimpico will also throw up some interesting individual battlers: here are the most interesting ones.

TAMMY ABRAHAM V ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIĆ
The Englishman and the Swede - both on two goals in the league - are expected to start up top for their respective side, in what promises to be a battle between different generations. They are two physically-imposing strikers, who are not just poachers but can also contribute to their teams' offensive build-up play. Abraham has hit the woodwork more times than any other player in Serie A this season (3), while Ibra is one goal away from 150 in Serie A and 400 in all top-flight divisions in his career. Furthermore, the Swede has scored more goals against Roma than against any other team in the division.

GIANLUCA MANCINI V FIKAYO TOMORI
The duel between the young centre-backs is not just limited to two stoppers, but also one between two very gifted ball-playing defenders. Mancini and Tomori are, in fact, leading the stats for their respective clubs this season in terms of passes completed both overall (641 to 513) and in their own half (430 to 358). The young Englishman also leads the Rossoneri for duels (19), defensive clearances (24) and interceptions (17); the Italian, however, is first for his club for shots blocks (5) and fouls committed (18). Mancini has also taken 13 shots without scoring.

NICOLÒ ZANIOLO V RAFAEL LEÃO
Two up and coming attacking talents born in 1999, who tend to operate out wide. Both of these players have the ability to light up a game at any moment, with a stroke of genius or a touch of class. It's no accident that these two lead the way - for their respective clubs - for attempted dribbles (Zaniolo 42, Leão 35). They differ, however, in the finishing stats: the Italian has taken the most shots in Serie A without scoring (21), while the Portuguese has already scored four goals this season, including two in his last two away matches.

LORENZO PELLEGRINI V BRAHIM DÍAZ
The hotly-anticipated return of the Spaniard, who has been out with COVID-19, will propose a direct comparison with one of the in-form players in the league. The Giallorossi's captain is his side's leading goalscorer this season with five and scored the winning goal last time out against Cagliari. Pellegrini is also in the Top 5 in Serie A for shots taken (35, 2nd), participation in shots (59, 2nd) and chances created (24, 3rd). He is a tough opponent for Díaz, who has scored two of his three goals away from home, which brought AC Milan four points.
