ASLLANI STRIKES TWICE: THE ROSSONERE BEAT SAMPDORIA 2-1

Third win in a row for the Rossonere as the Swede's double helps the team come from behind

Third win in a row for Ganz's Rossonere side who at the PUMA House of Football beat Sampdoria 2-1, joining the Blucerchiate on nine points in the table. After a bad start, the Rossonere dominated the game and fought back from behind through Asllani's double. The first half ended on level terms with AC Milan not clinical enough and Odden making several important stops; in the second half, the home side were in total control. As the game drew nearer to its conclusion, the tempo slowed down with the Rossonere not willing to take risks, bringing home the three points at the final whistle.

Kosovare Asllani's brace was pure instinct - the first for the Swede in Rossoneri colours - and she now has four goals in four Women's Serie A games. Another great performance came from Kamila Dubcová, who added to her assist from the game with Parma, with Valentina Bergamaschi, celebrating her 100th appearance for the Rossonere, also putting in a solid performance. For Maurizio Ganz's side, they now have a week's break before the derby on Saturday 15 October at 14:30 CEST away to Inter.

MATCH REPORT
It was a blistering opening at PUMA House of Football as Sampdoria took the lead with the first chance of the game: Baldi took on Fusetti, then Giuliani and slotted home after only 3 minutes. AC Milan replied with energy and equalised after 7 minutes: Bergamaschi's cross was met by Asllani who struck home past Odden to make it 1-1. Back on even terms, the Rossonere had the Doriane on the ropes and didn't let up. Adami's attempt from the edge of the area was kept out by Odden, after 12 minutes; then, Asllani linked up with Bergamaschi but her shot was turned around the post by the visiting keeper. AC Milan continued with the pressure: Bergamaschi orchestrated a counter-attack before playing out wide to K. Dubcová, who then played in Aslanni but she couldn't find the right moment to shoot and the move broke down. At the end of the half, K. Dubcová (39') and Thomas (41') both tried their luck but without any joy.

The second half started off in the same fashion with the Rossonere immediately searching for their second. Two minutes after the break, a one-two between Adami and Thomas ended with an accurate but weak shot on target that didn't trouble Odden. But it only needed a minute to take the lead: K. Dubcová got away on the right and put a ball into the box that was pounced upon by Asllani, who smashed the ball home to make it 2-1. As the minutes passed by, the tempo of the game slowed with AC Milan looking most dangerous to extend the lead: K. Dubcová's snap shot was blocked by the away side's defence, while on on the hour mark Odden saved well from Thrige. Sampdoria struggled to get back into the game and found Giuliani alert when called upon. After four minutes of injury-time, the final whistle blew and it ended 2-1.
