WOMEN, SAMPDORIA v AC MILAN: MATCH PREVIEW

The Rossonere face the Dorians in first league away match of the new year

The 14th matchday of Serie A Femminile TIM pits Ganz's AC Milan against Cincotta's Sampdoria. The 2-1 comeback - sealed by Asllani's double - in the first match confirms the challenges this match may contain, which must be faced with courage and attention. At the "3 Campanili" of Bogliasco, on Saturday 21 January at 12:30 CET, the Rossonere go in search of the three points to secure the access to the Poule Scudetto and to climb to second place in the standings before their clashes against Inter and Juventus. We present the first away match in 2023 with our Match Preview.

LATEST FROM PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
The 2-0 home win against Parma followed on from the away win in Sassuolo at the end of 2022. Exactly as happened in the first half of the season, the Rossonere are therefore looking for their third consecutive win in the league against Sampdoria. Having reached 22 points, Ganz's side are in search of more valuable points to keep up with leaders Roma, and to do so it will be crucial to leave Bogliasco with no regrets. Ahead of the trip to Genoa, AC Milan will have to do without Guðný Árnadóttir, who scored the winning goal against Parma and was suspended for this match.

These are the Rossonere selected for the match: Babb, Fedele, Giuliani; Carage, Fusetti, Guagni, Mesjasz, Soffia, Thrige, Zanini; Adami, Bahlouli, K. Dubcová, Grimshaw, Mascarello, Vigilucci; Asllani, Bergamaschi, M. Dubcová, Piemonte, Sevenius, Thomas.

"We will play three matches in one week, all important and challenging", the words of Maurizio Ganz on the eve of the match. "A difficult challenge awaits us, we will have to face Sampdoria with determination and concentration to get the best possible result".

LATEST FROM SAMPDORIA
The Doriane are going through a particularly difficult period and, after picking up three wins in their first three outings of the season, they have not won since and have also suffered five defeats in their last five matches. The Blucerchiate, however, finished at the top of their group of the Coppa Italia, beating San Marino 3-0 at home at the start of 2023. In order to seek redemption against the Rossoneri, Coach Cincotta will have to decide whether to field his starting 11 with the classic 4-3-1-2, or repropose the 4-1-4-1 seen against Inter in the last round.

PRE-MATCH
AC Milan
are, along with Juventus and Roma, one of the three teams against whom Sampdoria have lost 100% of their Serie A matches (3/3). Generally speaking, against no team have the Blucerchiate recorded more defeats in the tournament. The team with the best scoring percentage (AC Milan, 15.4%) and the team with the worst (Sampdoria, 4.6%) in the 2022/23 Women's Serie A will face each other in this match. The Rossonere have won their last two Serie A matches without conceding a goal and could make it three in a row by keeping a clean sheet for the first time since November 2021.
