AC Milan suffered their second consecutive loss in the Serie A Women's Cup, losing 1-0 to Roma in the final minutes of the game. The match at Stadio Tre Fontane was decided by a goal from Galli, that solidified their place in the standings but also effectively eliminates AC Milan from the race for the Final Four in Castellammare di Stabia. It's a shame, as coach Bakker's team showed significant improvement compared to their opening-round defeat against Sassuolo. Their defence was disciplined and effective, and while the attack still has some work to do, they managed to create several dangerous opportunities throughout the game – chances that should have been converted.

There were also several notable absences, especially in the midfield, creating a lack of squad depth. Only two substitutions were made, one of which was the official first-team debut of 2007-born player Karen Appiah. Despite the loss, the team can still benefit from the lessons learnt and use them to build on in the coming weeks to prepare for their league debut, scheduled for Sunday 5 October, against newly promoted Genoa. First they will play their final cup match against another newcomer, Ternana Women, on Sunday, 14 September at 15:00 in Fiorenzuola d'Arda.

    MATCH REPORT
The match started brightly, with AC Milan threatening inside six minutes: Arrigoni's clever backheel released Kyvåg, denied by Baldi, before van Dooren's follow-up was blocked on the line. Roma replied shortly after as Rieke headed just over from close range. The hosts grew into the half with chances for Thøgersen and Haavi, but Giuliani remained untroubled. The Rossonere pushed forward too, with Ijeh and Cesarini testing the Giallorosse defence before the break, which ended goalless in the sweltering Roman heat.

Roma came out strong after the restart, with Pilgrim flashing a shot wide and Rieke again going close. AC Milan responded through Renzotti and van Dooren in the 57th minute, while Giuliani produced sharp saves to keep out Heatley and van Diemen. With both coaches turning to their benches, it was substitute Galli who made the difference: a left-footed strike in the 80th minute found its way into the corner of the net to make it 1-0. AC Milan pressed late with Dompig, Ijeh, and debutant Appiah, but Roma held firm to claim the win.
