LATEST FROM THE PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
AC Milan returns to action after a 2-1 comeback win over Juventus, sealed late by goals from Thea Kyvåg and Monica Renzotti. It was a hard-fought victory and the 100th in the Rossonere's Serie A history, earning Coach Bakker's team its first three points of the season. The international break also brought positive signs, with eleven players representing their national teams. Emma Koivisto was a standout, scoring in both legs of Finland's World Cup qualifying playoff against Serbia, featuring Sara Stokić. Finland will now face Italy, featuring Angelica Soffia, in the final. Captain Christy Grimshaw also impressed, scoring for Scotland for the first time in almost five years and helping her team reach the final stage of World Cup qualifying. With international duty behind them, the Rossonere will look to build momentum in the league in what is their toughest away fixture of the season, against the defending champions.
Suzanne Bakker on the eve of the match: "We have strong momentum, growing confidence, and a clear ambition to keep pushing forward. With courage, discipline, and a relentless commitment to each other, we are determined to deliver a strong performance and bring the three points back to Milan."
LATEST FROM ROMA
The reigning champions enter the match with a perfect record, having beaten Sassuolo and Lazio 3-1 in the opening two rounds. Roma has scored six goals and collected all six available points under new coach Gianpiero Piovani, formerly in charge of Sassuolo and Inter. Its Serie A start has been strong, but the European campaign has proved more difficult. Roma has earned just one point and scored no goals in its first two Champions League matches, including a 6-0 home defeat to Barcelona before the break. The fixture features several familiar faces and former teammates, including Kayleigh van Dooren, who joined Roma over the summer and has already scored four goals this season, matching Martina Piemonte. Piemonte also made her mark for Italy, scoring a header in the 2-0 win over Belarus during the international break.
Piovani: "AC Milan is a great team. They like to keep possession, but they have become more direct. This will be a welcome test, an important one that will carry a lot of meaning. I can see my players are very motivated. We can't settle for less after the derby."
