SERIE A WOMEN'S CUP, AC MILAN v TERNANA WOMEN: MATCH PREVIEW

Final group stage fixture for Bakker's Rossonere

Second home game of the season for AC Milan, who will close out their first Serie A Women's Cup campaign by hosting the newly promoted Ternana Women. The match will have no bearing on the teams' standings, both already out of contention for the Final Four in Castellammare di Stabia, but it will serve as a dress rehearsal ahead of the league start in early October. It's now time for our Match Preview ahead of the Fiorenzuola d'Arda kickoff.

LATEST FROM THE PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
After the two defeats to Roma and Sassuolo, the Rossonere want to get back on track and secure their first official win of the 2025/26 season. There was an improvement in the performance against the Giallorosse with their defensive solidity and chances created, but it wasn't enough to get off the mark in points and goals. Inevitably, injuries are taking their toll compared to the Tre Fontane match; no players have returned to the squad, meaning the team will rely on the same group that travelled to the capital. No players from AC Milan have been suspended, with Koivisto on a yellow card warning.

LATEST FROM TERNANA WOMEN
One point earned from two Women's Cup matches for the Umbrian side, ready to experience their first historic campaign in the top flight. Against Roma (2-4) and at Sassuolo (1-1), Cincotta's team performed well in terms of their game plan and created chances, especially from set pieces, which is where all three goals that were scored came from in their first 180 minutes of the season. The strengths of Ternana's 4-3-3 include the experience of Paloma Lázaro up front, the strength on the flank brought by the Slovenian player Eržen, and the freshness of a young Roma academy talent, Pellegrino Cimò. For the match against AC Milan, a key Rossoverdi player, German Breitner (formerly of Fiorentina and Napoli) will be missing due to suspension. Di Giammarino and Massimino are on a yellow card warning.

PRE-MATCH NUMBERS

  • Second official match between the two teams: the first took place on 2 November 2022, 2-0 to the Rossonere in the Coppa Italia at Ternana's home ground. A match that also represents the only game AC Milan Women have ever played against an Umbrian side across all competitions.
  • AC Milan is the second-youngest team in terms of the average age of their starting XI in this Serie A women's Cup at 25 years and 262 days for the Rossonere, only higher than Napoli (24 years and 22 days).
  • Only Roma (85%) has recorded a higher pass completion rate than AC Milan (83%) in this Serie A Women's Cup, with the Rossonere completing 742 of 895 attempted passes. AC Milan also leads in successful dribbles, both in absolute terms (22 - exactly Ternana's double) and in percentage (59%).
  • Evelyn Ijeh has already scored 16 goals for AC Milan across all competitions, and with one more strike could become the club's second-highest foreign goalscorer in Rossonere history (just behind Chanté Dompig in third with 15). Only Nadine Nischler (nine) has attempted more shots than the Swedish striker (eight, tied with Zara Kramzar) in this Serie A Women's Cup.
