Following Sampdoria v AC Milan which saw the Rossoneri make the second round of the Primavera Tim Cup, Matteo Soncin spoke after starring in the penalty shootout along with Coach Federico Giunti. This is what they had to say:
MATTEO SONCIN
"It's an important win for us, we need to keep looking to go as far as possible in this competition. To win like that brings a lot of confidence to the team and it will also help in the league. We were aiming to get through this round and it's a team win. We believed all the way and then thankfully, the goal from Pecorino arrived and it allowed us to take it to penalties and win. To save penalties, you need composure above all and a bit of luck while trying to predict where it's going at the start of the run-up. It will be hard in the next round against Spezia, they've shown that they can be a tough side to face in the league."

“I am happy for the guys – they deserved this victory. We wanted to send out an important signal, both for ourselves and for the club as a whole – it will increase our confidence. We have to win as many games as possible in the league this season, and if we can go far in the Coppa Italia that is even better. We have shown that we are capable of playing against teams higher up in the rankings. I worry when players let their levels drop due to complacency, but when we concentrate like today, we can overcome our difficulties. Overall, considering the chances in added time, we deserved to get through.”
