Another win and another great Brescianini goal. It perhaps wasn’t as good as the one he scored against Spezia in the Coppa Italia but it was certainly more decisive: it meant that AC Milan Primavera picked up three precious points. In Ferrara, Coach Giunti's team ran out 1-0 winners against a SPAL side who – up to this week at least – have remained close behind the Rossoneri in the table. The winner was bagged by Brescianini, one of the leaders in the team in terms of quality and experience, at the death: Marco received the ball, played a one-two with Tonin before finding the corner with a left-footed shot from inside the area.
This win means that the Rossoneri have consolidated their second-place position in the table (on 17 points), although they remain four points behind a Hellas Verona side who continue to boast a perfect record. Next Saturday, AC Milan will face the table toppers at Vismara in what will be the big match of the Primavera 2 weekend.
These were Coach Giunti’s thoughts after the match:
"It was a difficult game against an organised side who looked to do everything to close down all available space. We did well to believe until the end and the Brescianini goal was the right way to draw an end to a week which has been very intense both physically and mentally. The guys really gave all that they had and the rotation that we’ve been using showed its benefits. Today, a special mention goes to the effort from Emanuele Torrasi, who was back after six months out. He deserves all the good in the world after all the difficulties that he’s had to face."
Emanuele Torrasi also added his thoughts from the G.B. Fabbri Stadium:
"It was a wonderful feeling, I’m really happy. I’ve missed being out on the pitch so much, it’s been seven long months. I felt at ease both physically and mentally and I’m satisfied with how I did, but this has to be just the start. We have a duty not to give an inch until the final whistle blows and today we managed to do this. I think that we’re a team that need to win this league and achieve automatic promotion. This is our objective."
