The Primavera once again emerged victorious today as their fine league form at the end of the year continued. At the Ferdeghini, AC Milan's Under-19s beat Spezia 3-0 thanks to Capanni's goal in the first half and Tonin's brace after the break. The Rossoneri's eighth consecutive win sees the side move up to 32 points after twelve matchdays and remain at the top of the league, six points ahead of their nearest challengers Hellas Verona. Prior to today's game, AC Milan had already faced Spezia twice: the teams played out a 1-1 draw at the start of the season, while Coach Giunti's men then thrashed the side from Liguria 5-1 in the Coppa Italia. And they got the better of the same opponents this afternoon too following a strong, high-quality display where they were never really troubled. Next up for the Diavolo is a trip to the Stadio Filadelfia, where they'll face Torino in the last 16 of Primavera TIM Cup at 20:00 CET on Tuesday 17 December.
REPORT
Coach Giunti made a number of changes to the starting line-up, but those who lined up didn't disappoint. It took just 13 minutes for the Rossoneri to take the lead: Capanni received the ball from Mionić and powerfully let fly, beating Barone from just over 20 yards out. In the 18th minute, Daniel Maldini came inches away from making it two with a fantastic right-footed strike from distance. AC Milan were controlling matters and continued to do so for the rest of the half. After the restart, it was much the same story, even if Spezia were trying to do more in attack. But whatever they threw at Jungdal, the AC Milan goalkeeper was up to the task. With 58 minutes on the clock the Rossoneri gave themselves breathing space through Tonin, who got to Olzer's cross first and diverted the ball into the net. In the 82nd minute, Riccardo let Mionić's ball run past him before netting with a splendid finish. A great way to round off the day as the Diavolo ran out comfortable winners.
