A setback for AC Milan’s Primavera side, who fell to defeat away to Torino in the rearranged matchday four clash between the sides. It finished 2-0 to the Granata, a result which wasn’t a true reflection of what happened on the pitch: Coach Giunti’s men took the game to their opponents and created numerous chances, but they were made to pay for a couple of moments of carelessness in defence. Despite the loss, there are plenty of positives to take from the match, even if the team were unable to build on their win against Lazio. Thankfully, the action-packed schedule provides an opportunity for AC Milan to immediately bounce back: at 11:00 CET on Saturday 30 January, the Rossoneri will face high-flying SPAL at Vismara.
MATCH REPORT
Coach Giunti made two changes to the side that started against Lazio on Saturday, with Bright and El Hilali coming in for Di Gesù and Tonin. AC Milan took charge early on, controlling possession and threatening in the eleventh minute through captain Brambilla. Ten minutes later, Sava expertly turned Emil Roback’s strike behind for a corner. The Diavolo continued to push forward, with Brambilla and Mionić having efforts at goal after 36 and 45 minutes respectively. The second half started in much the same fashion as AC Milan came close to scoring through Olzer and Roback again, but it was Torino who broke the deadlock in the 55th minute thanks to a header from Karamoko, who capitalised on some poor Rossoneri defending. It was a big blow that AC Milan failed to really recover from: from that point onwards, the Diavolo’s only real effort came after 76 minutes, when Sava was able to make a comfortable stop to keep out Mionić’s shot from distance. Then, with 84 minutes on the clock, the Granata sealed the win through Vianni.
