AC MILAN PRIMAVERA BEAT COMO 6-0 IN FIRST ROUND CUP TIE

A big victory for Giunti's side, who safely made it into round two of the Primavera TIM Cup

A big and important win that will provide a real confidence boost. In the first round of the Primavera TIM Cup, AC Milan U19s beat Como 6-0 to sail through to round two, where they’ll face a Brescia side who themselves won 6-0 against Pordenone. The Rossoneri thus recorded their first victory of the season after two draws and two defeats across the league and Youth League. And they did so with an excellent performance, especially from the second goal onwards, at which point any nerves had vanished. With space to exploit, Coach Giunti’s boys displayed their quality and desire to play in a dynamic and proactive fashion. Mission complete, then, with Roback, Robotti, Traorè, Rossi (x2) and Bright getting on the scoresheet. Now, it’s time to focus on Atalanta, as the team look to pick up points and build momentum in the league.

REPORT
The game couldn’t have begun better for the Rossoneri: after two minutes, Emil Roback broke the deadlock with a great left-footed strike from El Hilali’s assist. It made things easier for the Diavolo, even if Como showed courage in coming forward and threatened on a number of occasions. AC Milan were managing things rather than putting their foot on the accelerator, but this changed as the half drew to a close. Amore hit the bar with a free kick in the 38th minute, while the Rossoneri then scored their second on the 45-minute mark following a perfect counter. Foglio burst forward in the middle of the park and picked out Roback, who, rather than pulling the trigger, opted to play the ball inside for Robotti, whose powerful right-footed shot ended in the net.

Coach Giunti made several changes after the restart and the substitutes responded excellently. In the 70th minute, Traorè, who had just come on, made it three on the slide, scoring his first Rossoneri goal in the process. Then, Leonardo Rossi, who had replaced El Hilali with 70 minutes on the clock, took centre stage, bagging a brace. First, he finished off Sette’s assist in the 72nd minute; then, he got the better of his marker to net AC Milan’s fifth from just outside the six-yard box after 78 minutes. Bright brought the scoring to an end, with Pallavicini unable to stop his right-footed strike from a central position. It finished 6-0.

QUOTES

Coach Giunti

"Our early lead didn’t result in us playing the game we wanted to play. Our tempo dropped off and I didn’t like what I saw for 30/35 minutes. After making it 2-0, everything became easier, with the substitutes consolidating our control of the game. I’m happy because, overall, we played well. We shouldn’t treat certain opponents one way and others in another; there shouldn’t be any carelessness because we paid a dear price in Turin, where our attitude wasn’t right. I’m satisfied because we’re scoring on a regular basis. I hope our strikers want to get on the scoresheet in every game, something which we lacked in Liverpool. Our next opponents will be Atalanta, who have reached the Scudetto final in each of the past three league seasons. We’ll need to perform in the same way as we did against Roma and Liverpool."

Chaka Traorè

"I wasn’t expecting to score. Since I’ve been at AC Milan, I’ve always tried to lend a hand. Luckily, I netted my first goal today, and I’m happy that we’ve won. I’m delighted to be part of this team. We work every single day to improve, and, in line with the Coach’s instructions, I hope that we can make strides forward over the course of the campaign."
