PRIMAVERA LOSE TO A PENALTY: 1-0 TO FIORENTINA AT VISMARA

A good first half wasn't enough for the Rossoneri: Corradini won it for the Viola

AC Milan Primavera suffered their fourth league defeat of the season after a 1-0 loss to Fiorentina at Vismara. Corradini's penalty at the start of the second half was enough for the three points for the guests. The result does not, however, reflect the overall nature of the game given that the Rossoneri played excellently in the first half and went close to taking the lead on numerous occasions. The hosts also had chances to level it up but what would have been a deserved equaliser didn't arrive. It's a setback following a win over Lecce last weekend but the fixture list has thrown up immediate opportunities to get back on track; first in the UEFA Youth League against Porto on Wednesday and then away to Hellas Verona on Sunday in the league.

REPORT
Coach Giunti opted for a more offensive 4-2-3-1 system after the Coppa Italia tie against Brescia in midweek, with Capone, Bright and Traorè in behind the lone striker Roback. AC Milan started strongly and, in the sixth minute, Obaretin fired just over the bar from a corner. In the 14th minute, Bosisio headed wide from Capone's free kick. Both sides were moving the ball around nicely and the Rossoneri had a couple of chances just before the break. Capone tested Fiorentina 'keeper Andonov (42') before the Rossoneri's number 10 again tested the Viola stopper; his effort took a wicked deflection and Andonov did well to palm it away for a corner (44').

AC Milan started on the front foot in the second half too with Andonov beating Roback to the ball in the 50th minute. The turning point came in the 55th minute. Bianco was brought down in the box by Robotti and Corradini converted from the spot, sending Desplanches the wrong way. The Viola shut up shop after the goal, while AC Milan pushed for an equaliser through Capone and Kerkez, who was denied by Andonov in the 69th minute. The game became scrappy and Fiorentina were defending rigidly. The Rossoneri had two late chances from dead-ball situations. In the 88th minute, Capone found Bosisio, whose backheeled effort was saved by Andonov; Foglio fired over the bar from the ensuing corner. It ended 1-0.
