Coach Terni’s first match in the Primavera dugout didn’t go as planned. Despite taking an early lead, AC Milan’s Under-19s were pegged back by Empoli and eventually fell to their fourth consecutive defeat. It’s another setback at a very difficult moment for the Rossoneri, who now need to respond and try to put distance between themselves and the playout zone.

The team made an excellent start and went in front through Gala in the tenth minute. But as the minutes ticked by, the Tuscans, who are the reigning champions, showed more energy to ultimately prevail. Pezzola, Degli Innocenti and Magazzu got on the scoresheet for the hosts, with the latter netting on the counter late on to dash the Rossoneri’s hopes of rescuing a draw. Just two matches remain, and it’ll be vital to give absolutely everything in both of them. The Diavolo’s next fixture will be against Inter on Monday 9 May (17:00 CEST), after which they’ll take on Genoa.

    HOW IT UNFOLDED
The Rossoneri took the lead in the tenth minute through Gala, who fooled two opposition players with a clever feint before firing into the net with his left foot. The Rossoneri had a golden opportunity to double their advantage on the 17-minute mark, but Biagini managed to deny Nasti. Having survived a big scare, Empoli came to life and started to play higher up the pitch. The home side then scored an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, with Pezzola heading home from a corner.

After an even start to the second half, the Tuscans made it 2-1 after 65 minutes: Degli Innocenti took full advantage of a mix-up between Desplanches and Robotti at the back to deal a big blow to the Rossoneri. Terni’s team struggled to muster a response, with their next chance coming in the 86th minute as Traorè shot over the bar from a good position. In the last few minutes, the Diavolo tried to put the pressure on to rescue a draw, but Magazzu struck on the break after being picked out by Degli Innocenti. It finished 3-1.
