GOALLESS DRAW FOR THE PRIMAVERA AGAINST ROMA

A hard-fought contest ends 0-0 at the PUMA House of Football

The head-to-head clash between AC Milan and Roma ended in a 0-0 draw at the PUMA House of Football, the same result in the reverse fixture earlier in the season at Trigoria, highlighting how finely balanced both teams are. Perhaps, Abate's Rossonere deserved something more after having several opportunities in the first half through Simmelhack, Parmiggiani and Cuenca. The result keeps both teams in the playoff zone in the table, which remains very tight at the top end. AC Milan put on a good display on this foggy Saturday morning, which eventually cleared with the sun peeking out during the first half.

The team were determined and forthright, despite being victim to a few too many technical errors. With Zlatan Ibrahimović, Daniele Bonera and Vincenzo Vergine all watching on, it is a second consecutive home draw in 2024, after kicking off the new year with a win away at Frosinone. As mentioned, on a technical level, a touch of precision was missing; instead, in evidence was a strong team spirit, who looked for the win up until the final whistle and limiting very few chances to the visitors. It's another step towards growth ahead of the next match, which sees us face Cagliari at Asseminello.

MATCH REPORT
It was an evenly-balanced game and full of battles across the pitch from the first minute. After the 15-minute mark, the Rossoneri upped their tempo and aggressiveness, carving out three good chances: on 16 minutes, Cuenca won the ball back in midfield and played in Simmelhack through the middle; she eluded her marker and shot from in front of goal, but Marin made a pure reflex save. From the following corner, Parmiggiani rose highest but headed just wide. Then, Roma had an identical chance from a corner, with Plaia, this time, heading just wide. A nice move from us in the 27th minute saw a precise cross come in from Bartesaghi on the left, only for Hugo Cuenca, making a perfectly timed run into the box, to miss the target by a few metres with her header.

The second half began again with a chance for our Primavera side, and it fell to Bartesaghi, who unleashed a left-footed shot in the edge of the box that skimmed past the post, with the goalkeeper practically beaten. The Rossoneri's pressure dwindled a bit, giving Roma time to catch their breath and in the 69th minute a free kick from Mannini, clearly deflected off the wall, surprised Raveyre sent fear through the entire stadium. Abate, then, made a triple change, with Magni, Sala and Perina coming on, and it was the latter who had a huge opportunity in the 75th minute when Malaspina's weaving run opened up the Giallorossi defence; he laid the ball off to Gioele, who was stopped by Golić right in front of goal. The opportunities, for both sides, ended there. The final few minutes brought about some sudden, improvised moves, but not enough to break down either side's defences and the score finished 0-0.
