It was a bitter afternoon for AC Milan, who lost the Coppa Italia final to Cagliari: in front of 3000 spectators, the Sardinians came out on top in the clash at the Arena with a 3-0 win, securing their first every trophy in the competition. It was an especially cruel and harsh result for the Rossoneri, who created chances - also missing a penalty with Bonomi hitting the crossbar - while the Rossoblu were more clinical with their opportunities, above all in the first half where they had two shots, and scored both of them.

The Rossoneri couldn't quite get over the line: after beating Genoa, Inter and Lecce to get into the Final, Guidi's side didn't manage to claim what would have been the Club's third win in the history of the competition after the triumphs in 1985 and 2010. We have a particularly young side in the Primavera 1 League - (there was a total of eight years difference between the two sides today, with two 2008-born Rossoneri starting) however we must regroup to secure our Championship Play-off spot. Come on boys!

    MATCH REPORT
The Rossoneri had the first chance in the 7th minute with Liberali's low cross into Sia, but it was cut out by Cagliari. In the 8th minute, Victor got forward, released a strike with his left foot, but Iliev blocked his effort. Just after 20 minutes, we suffered a huge setback: Cagliari got ahead with their first chance through Vinciguerra's unsaveable curler. AC Milan looked to respond in the 27th minute when Liberali threaded it into Comotto who won a corner from Iliev's intervention. From the resulting set play, Liberali came close to equalising, but the Sardinian keeper pushed it away. AC Milan were playing well, but the Rossoblu were lethal on the break: in the 36th minute, Arba crossed into the centre, Longoni pushed it away, but Bolzan reacted on the rebound to put the Sardinians two to the good from their second effort on goal. The Rossoneri tried to respond, and in the 43rd minute Sia won a penalty, but Bonomi's spot-kick hit the underside of the bar without crossing the line.

We got going after the break without any changes, but the chances weren't coming. Guidi mixed it up in the 54th minute, changing to a 3-man defence (Nissen and Sala on) but this didn't make much of a difference. Perrucci and Scotti then both came on, and AC Milan stepped up their game. In the 67th minute, Nissen sent a right-footed shot that went very close, with many fans thinking it went in. But, all of a sudden, in the 69th minute, Cagliari found a third through Trepy's strike which went in via a deflection. In the 74th minute, Nissen laid it off to Paloschi, who fired over from a good position. In the 84th minute, the Rossoneri's persistence led to a chance for Liberali, but his low-driven strike was pushed away on the stretch by Iliev. Liberali then had another effort from a free kick, but nothing came of it. After four minutes of additional time, the final whistle left a bitter taste for the Rossoneri, as Cagliari became champions.
