A POINT APIECE: PRIMAVERA DERBY FINISHES 2-2

Rossoneri dominated and were two up until the 65th minute, then the Nerazzurri equalised in the 89th

A strong hour of play wasn’t enough for Milan Primavera to win the home Derby against Inter. The final score at Sportitalia Village was 2–2, reflecting a nearly perfect first half from the Rossoneri and an all-out second-half effort from the Nerazzurri. Goals from Lontani and Perera, in the 27th and 32nd minutes of the first half, seemed to have put the match on our terms. After 65 minutes of struggle, however, a goal from Mancuso brought Inter back into the game, and from that moment on they woke up. The equaliser came in the 89th minute from Zarate, after a great save by Faccioli in the 84th.

What stands out, however, is a great performance from Coach Renna’s side, dazzling for over an hour of play despite the injuries that affected both the build-up to the match and the game itself. Bianchi was ruled out during the warm-up, in addition to in-game absences for Pandolfi, Castiello, and Lontani, and the pre-existing absences of Longoni and Plazzotta. Aggression, dominant play, a team always pushing forward: even without the three points at the end of the day, the signs from the youngest squad in the league are very promising. Growth is steady: now it’s time to focus on the next match against Verona.

MATCH REPORT
AC Milan dominated the first half, thanks to a proactive approach and a lot of effort from every player. In the 11th minute, Inter were saved by Taho, who first blocked Lontani’s free-kick and then the rebound from Mancioppi. In the 20th minute, Castiello tried to replicate the goal he had scored against Fiorentina, but he started slightly offside. The breakthrough came in the 27th minute: a vertical invention from Pandolfi to Lontani, who headed it into the corner past Taho. In the 36th minute, AC Milan doubled their lead: Lontani earned and took a free-kick, which Perera finished at the far post with a header, making it 2–0.

The second half began with the Rossoneri in control, trying to attack in search of a third goal. Castiello had to stop due to a muscular problem, and Inter tried to push higher up the field. In the 65th minute, Mancuso scored a rather sudden goal, finishing a scramble with his right foot. Lontani responded the very next minute, stealing the ball and breaking forward, but Taho made a miraculous save on his angled left-footed shot. Lontani, hit hard, had to give up in the 77th minute. Inter kept believing, and after a great save from Faccioli in the 84th minute, they equalised through Zarate in the 89th. In the final push, the Nerazzurri even came close to winning with another scramble, but Faccioli remained alert. The match ended 2–2.
