A bad day, one to forget in terms of the result, but one to remember for the necessary and natural growth of a young team like the Primavera. AC Milan stumbled in Verona and were handed a heavy 4–1 defeat by Hellas in the league. At the Olivieri Stadium, the hosts — strong in performance and firmly in the play-off zone — imposed themselves, proving superior and able to rely on a rampant Vermesan in the second half. The match remained in the balance until the opening goal; after the break it turned negative and was difficult overall. Coach Renna’s side tried to battle, but were rarely truly in the game.

The Rossoneri struggled, created very little and produced a colourless performance: Dotta’s first-ever Primavera goal, scored on his debut, helped ease the pain and make the afternoon slightly less bitter. It hasn’t been an easy period, and even luck hasn’t been on their side; against Fiorentina and in the derby it could have been maximum points, but instead came bittersweet draws. The defeat was the first since mid-January in Turin. Matchday 23 of the Primavera 1 season brought no points for the Diavolo, who remain on 31 points in 12th place and now sit five points off the play-off zone. Next weekend, on Saturday February 7 at 13:00 CET, a delicate and important AC Milan v Lazio fixture is scheduled.

    MATCH REPORT
Verona started aggressively, and in the 2nd minute Bouyer anticipated Vermesan. The Rossoneri responded as Cullotta’s effort was deflected, then in the 9th minute a fine move saw Lontani burst into the box and shoot, forcing Castagnini into action; Mancioppi then failed to capitalise on the loose rebound. In the 10th minute came a miracle save from Bouyer, who tipped Vermesan’s right-footed strike onto the bar. From the resulting corner, Barry failed to hit the target from close range. In the 14th minute Domniței tried his luck but without accuracy. In the 28th minute Bouyer gathered Casagrande’s attempt. In the 36th minute AC Milan fell behind: a free-kick from a wide position, Bouyer came out but failed to make contact with the ball, Yıldız got a touch and Barry gratefully turned it in. Two minutes later, Feola’s low diagonal effort went just wide.

The second half, after a chance for Scotti that was saved by Castagnini, was one-way traffic. In the 55th minute Hellas doubled their lead: Vermesan burst past Colombo and, with his left foot, despite a slightly mishit strike, clipped the post and saw the ball go in. In the 59th minute AC Milan’s hopes were virtually extinguished after Vermesan’s brace, as he was left free to turn and score from close range. Vermesan completed his hat-trick in the 67th minute, rising highest from a corner and curling the ball into the far corner. The scoreline risked becoming even heavier: in the 71st minute Colombo cleared after De Battisti had beaten Bouyer, and a minute later Vermesan was again dangerous. In the 85th minute Castagnini produced an important intervention. In the 89th minute the Rossoneri pulled one back through Dotta, who rose well to head in Nolli’s free kick. Hellas Verona v AC Milan ended 4–1.
