A midfielder with perpetual gravitas and the number 10 on his back. Hakan Çalhanoğlu was voted as the MVP of Shamrock Rovers v AC Milan in the second round of Europa League qualifying. The Turk picked up right where he left off little more than a month ago. He was a key figure in the game, assisting Ibra's opener and scoring the Rossoneri's second.
He was on the pitch for little over 84 minutes before making way for debutant Brahim Díaz; in that time, our number 10 successfully retained possession on 68 occasions. He had two shots on target, one of which hit the back of the net and was, in general, a real source of inspiration for the Rossoneri on the night as he confirmed that connection with Zlatan Ibrahimović. Hakan is becoming an increasingly central figure in this young AC Milan side. Now though, the Europa League will have to take a back seat as thoughts turn immediately to the league.
