There were two key figures in the game and it produced a very close result in our poll. In the end though, Simon Kjær just edged out Gigio Donnarumma. The Danish defender is the MVP of Rio Ave v AC Milan with 32% of the vote, against the 30% given to our goalkeeper. 120 minutes played, cool from spot in the shoot-out, scoring two of them. And then there were the 89 touches of the football, five recoveries and a generally very positive performance, to which we are by now very accostumed. In a night as difficult as this one, AC Milan needed his experience and Kjær did not let them down. Well played, Simon!
