You could say that good things come in threes. The Rossoneri fans voted Franck Kessie as the MVP of Manchester United v AC Milan in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16. It's the third consecutive award for the Ivorian, which, once again, is a result of an authoritative performance in midfield.
After dominant displays against Udinese and Veroni, it was the usual solid display in an AC Milan side, which played well and with plenty of personality in a massive game in England. Much of this came from the feet of Franck, who picked up 64% of the vote ahead of Kjær, Meïte and Krunić.
The stats say a lot about Kessie's performance: 45 positive passes from 67 possessions of the football and six recoveries. These numbers put him among the very best of the Rossoneri from last night and confirm what a good performance Franck put in alongside Soualiho Meïte - a very solid midfield partnership.
Another high-quality performance, upon which to build ahead of two huge games at San Siro (Sunday against Napoli and next Thursday against United), in which AC Milan will continue to push for their goals. And with Franck playing like he did at the Theatre of Dreams, no dream is out of reach.
