It was only ever going to be Sandro Tonali, with the Italian picking up the MVP award after the victory over Lazio at the Olimpico. He scored the winning goal, which perfectly encapsulated what this AC Milan side is all about: generosity, courage and self-belief until the end. He poked the ball home deep into injury time to keep the Rossoneri's Scudetto dream alive - his third goal of the season after scoring against Cagliari and Atalanta - and to cement himself as one of the key figures this season.
Sandro picked up over 70% of the votes to beat three other good performers in the capital: Leão was in second, while Giroud and Hernández finished further behind. This is a deserved recognition of a great performance, one that included more than just the winning goal. Tonali, in fact, was the AC Milan player with the most recoveries (11) and also completed 100% of his dribbles, won six duels and successfully played 36 passes (only Kalulu and Tomori had more). Bravo, Sandro!
