It doesn't happen very often that a player can make all the difference with only 19 minutes remaining. But a little more than a quarter of an hour was all that was needed by Aster Vranckx to make his mark for AC Milan against Fiorentina, being chosen by the Rossoneri supporters on the Official AC Milan App as the best player on the pitch in what is the last match of 2022.
It was won above all thanks to his 91st-minute cross that led to the decisive own goal by Milenković - another goal for the Rossoneri in the dying moments after Giroud's late goal against Spezia. With 47% of the vote, the Belgian midfielder came ahead of teammates Rafa Leão and Sergiño Dest in the game at San Siro.
Replacing Krunić, Aster had a massive impact on the game, in what was his third appearance of the season at San Siro and fourth overall. Prior to today, he had featured against Juventus and Monza at home, and on the opening day of the season at Ferraris against Sampdoria.
After coming on, Vranckx covered a large part of the pitch, adapting superbly to a hard-fought and intense battle. He also completed eight positive passes, two crosses - including the decisive one at the end - and had a 100% dribbling rate. Keep it up, Aster!
