BEST SAVE 2022/23: MAIGNAN WINS

Quite simply, a work of art. The Rossoneri fans have crowned the winner of the best save from the 2022/23 season. In the final, Maignan beat Maignan thanks to his superb stop to deny Di Lorenzo in AC Milan v Napoli in the Champions League (it came out on top over his save to thwart Çalhanoğlu in the September derby in Serie A). In the 87th minute of the quarter-final first leg at San Siro, Mike stuck out a left hand in extraordinary fashion. Had it gone in, it would have been a big blow, especially as the Rossoneri’s opponents were down to ten men. However, the French goalkeeper foiled them, allowing AC Milan to come away with a 1-0 victory that proved decisive in the tie. An outstanding display of talent and strength to push the ball out from under the bar. Congratulations, Mike!
