MVP FOR JANUARY: RUBEN LOFTUS‑CHEEK

The fifth MVP of the season, the first of the new year, goes to Loftus-Cheek. It has been a dominating January for the English giant, especially blossoming in the goal-scoring department. From Empoli to Bologna: four goals in four league games. A month on the rise, the best so far in the Rossoneri colours. As he showcased his importance at the debut, as he proved unique in characteristics over the months, it has been a great sight as recently he has truly exploded.

Devastating and decisive. In Empoli, a Loftus-Cheek goal opened the scoring in the 3-0 victory at the Castellani. In Udine, he replicated his scoring by putting his signature touch on the 3-2 comeback at the Bluenergy Stadium. Against Bologna, finally at San Siro, Loftus-Cheek had a brace (his second multiple-goal performance in his career after the hat-trick in 2018, wearing Chelsea's shirt in the Champions League), but, it proved to not be enough to go beyond the 2-2 draw. The most brilliant performance in a heartbreaking draw that doesn't erase the dominance of a midfielder deployed as a trequartista and turned into a goalscorer.

In the voting on our official website, Ruben has overwhelmingly won, obtaining almost 70% of the votes. AC Milan fans have massively elected him as MVP ahead of teammates Hernández, Adli, and Jović. Since the beginning of 2024, no central midfielder has scored more goals (four, like Żurkowski) in the top five European leagues; he is also the only one in his position to have found the net in at least three different matches in the period. And he has already scored three away goals in the Serie A (including Cagliari), one less than in the previous nine seasons (four, starting from 2014/15).

When he plays, he makes an impact; when he is at 100%, he makes a difference. The performance of the Englishman goes hand in hand with his physical and mental condition, supporting a physique that stands out both in Italy and in Europe.
