Following the draw in Monte Carlo, UEFA has announced the Rossoneri's schedule for the upcoming Europa League campaign. Eight European fixtures await AC Milan in the League Phase of the 2026/27 edition, starting with the opening matchday in mid-September: on Wednesday 16 we will host Benfica at San Siro. From October onwards, Thursday will be a regular date in the European calendar: on the 15th, away against Salzburg, followed by another fixture away to Bournemouth on the 22nd. November will bring matches against Ferencváros (at home on the 5th) and Olympiacos (away on the 26th), while our final European fixture of 2026 will take place on 10 December, hosting Sunderland. Our League Phase campaign will conclude in January with matches against Levski Sofia and Ararat-Armenia, on the 21st and 28th respectively.
Four of AC Milan's eight opponents in the 2026/27 Europa League will be new opponents in the Club's history. Ferencváros will become the second Hungarian side we have faced in European competition, following Györi ETO in the 1969/70 Cup Winners' Cup, while Ararat-Armenia represent our first-ever meeting with an Armenian team. There have also been no previous encounters with either Bournemouth or Sunderland: with the two surprise packages of last season's Premier League, the number of English sides faced by the Rossoneri in European competition rises to 13. Our most recent Europa League meeting with an English team came in the 2020/21 Round of 16 against Manchester United.
It will be the first time that AC Milan have faced Benfica in this competition, though not overall, with six previous meetings between the two sides, including the two historic European Cup finals won by the Rossoneri in 1963 and 1990. The same applies to Salzburg, whom AC Milan most recently faced in the 2022/23 Champions League, drawing 1-1 in Austria before winning 4-0 at San Siro. The Rossoneri are also unbeaten in their six previous meetings, including two in the Europa League/UEFA Cup, with Levski Sofia, whom they faced in the second round of the 1978/79 UEFA Cup, drawing 1-1 in Bulgaria before winning 3-0 at San Siro. More recent was the last of four encounters with Olympiacos, during the 2018/19 group stage, when both matches ended in 3-1 home victories.
