AC Milan suffered a 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium on Europa League Matchday 3. Reduced to ten men around the half-hour mark following Maignan’s straight red card, the Rossoneri were undone by first-half penalties from Kluivert (8’) and Tavernier (32’) and a late Adli free kick. In relentless rain, the evening proved difficult from the outset, as the hosts’ aggressive start quickly put them in control. Playing a man down made the task harder still, and although the Rossoneri tried to respond after the break, they could not find a way back into the game.
Torriani and Comotto made their first appearances of the season, albeit on a difficult night. AC Milan has fallen to its second European defeat of the season, following the home loss to Benfica. The setback has not derailed the Rossoneri’s campaign, but it has made the next game against Ferencváros at San Siro and the subsequent meetings with Olympiacos and Sunderland all the more important. The priority now is to reset quickly and prepare with clear heads and a determination to bounce back ahead of the trip to Udine in less than 72 hours for Serie A Matchday 8.

MATCH REPORT
AC Milan, playing in white, enjoyed the early possession before Bournemouth pushed forward and forced Estupiñan to block Gannon-Doak’s effort. From the resulting corner, Evanilson’s header struck De Winter’s hand. Greek referee Fotias awarded a penalty following a VAR review, and Kluivert converted to make it 1-0. Amorim’s side struggled to build attacks, while the buoyant hosts continued to push forward. Christie tried his luck from the edge of the box in the 15th minute, with Mike gathering at the second attempt.
Maignan was sent off in the 28th minute following an incident with Adams inside the box, and the Cherries were awarded another penalty. Torriani, on for Hutchinson, was immediately beaten by Tavernier: 2-0. Amorim introduced Bartesaghi and Rabiot at the start of the second half, and AC Milan tried to regain a foothold through Moreira down the flank, but struggled to create clear openings. De Winter met Moreira’s cross with a header in the 75th minute, only for the home defense to clear behind for a corner. Like Torriani, Comotto made his season debut, replacing Moreira in the 76th minute. Adli made it 3-0 with a superb free kick in the 84th minute, before Torriani produced an excellent save to deny Rayan three minutes later.
