ALLEGRI: "WE MUSTN'T LOSE SIGHT OF OUR GOALS"

The Coach's thoughts from Milanello ahead of AC Milan v Roma

Another big match awaits AC Milan. The schedule is not easing up, and it's time to face Roma following the draw with Atalanta. The Rossoneri are aiming to get back to winning ways in the league. The match won't be easy, given that the joint leaders Roma (level with Napoli) are coming to San Siro. At Milanello it's the eve of the match and Coach Allegri has spoken in his press conference, live on the AC Milan Official App and Milan TV.

ROSSONERI UPDATE
"After the international break, we lost a few players, but these things happen. We dealt with the situation in the best possible way, trying to recuperate. Tomorrow will be an exciting match to play against a team that's doing well, with talented players. Gasperini has made his mark from the start. Roma have conceded very few goals, while we've let some in over the last few games. We need to change that pattern."

ROMA
"They always give the impression that they can score at any moment, thanks to the quality players they have up front, and they're very solid at the back. I don't know if they'll be able to stay near the top because table is very tight, and consistency is key. Paulo's (Dybala) technical ability is nothing new. He's a top player, and when he shoots, he rarely misses. We'll have to do well to stop him, as well as Soulé, who's improving a lot. Roma have great technical quality, they’re not at the top by chance. Gasperini? We've faced each other many times, and it’s always tough because his teams are physical, cover a lot of distance, and make you work hard."

ON MODRIĆ
"Luka is doing well. In the first half in Bergamo, we made a lot of technical mistakes and were constantly chasing Atalanta. There were moments when we just couldn't keep the ball under control, we need to work on our technique and quality to avoid that. In the second half, he improved along with the team, and he's become an important example for all of us. Over these past few months, I've been impressed by the humility and attitude he's shown since arriving. He was ready to contribute from day one. He's playing a different role than usual, but he's handling it brilliantly because he's intelligent enough to read the game ahead."

AVAILABILITY UPDATE
"Leão has trained and is feeling good. Tomori's situation is more complicated, we'll see today if he's able to play, but it's tough. I expect to have Pulisic back before the Parma match, while Rabiot is also doubtful. Gimenez has an ankle issue, and we’ll have to see if he can make it for tomorrow. Estupiñan is back training with the group, while Jashari has only had one session, so it's unlikely he'll be on the bench. Castiello, Sia, and Sala from Milan Futuro will be with us as well. They're young players who can give us a hand if needed, and some of them did well in the friendly in Dublin. We need to go into this game with the hunger to perform well."

ON NKUNKU
"(Christopher) is okay, he might play. He's very talented and we expect a lot from him. I think he could play as a centreforward like Leão can, but I think we can also play with two forwards who move more freely. Seeing them play together? I am interested in that, sometimes you come up with unexpected solutions. They're both very talented players, so they can do well together. After an excellent first month and a half, Rafa was held back by his injury, but now he's getting back into shape and is eager to do well. The team supports him, and he's doing his part to give back. He's shown a positive attitude and real willingness to contribute."

BETWEEN MIDFIELD AND ATTACK
"Every player has their own qualities, and it wouldn't make sense to expect others to do what Adrien does. For example, Fofana is improving a lot both defensively and in making forward runs, and he still has plenty of room to grow. Loftus-Cheek in attack? That's something I'll need to think about. Up front, he could be an option, just like Leão, Nkunku, or even Saelemaekers."

BARTESAGHI'S PROGRESS
"He's regarded as a key member of the AC Milan squad. He can still show more initiative in the final third because he's got the quality with his left foot."

WIDE OPEN AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE
"First, I want to wish Spalletti the best of luck. In terms of squad depth, the two favourites for the title are Inter and Napoli, but there's also a strong group of teams fighting for the Champions League spots. Alongside AC Milan and Roma, there are Juventus, Lazio, Atalanta, and also Bologna and Como who are doing well right now. In the end, the best team will win, but we must never lose sight of our main goal: getting back into the Champions League. We need to keep fighting, without getting discouraged by a couple of draws, and focus on working hard and maintaining consistency. Winning against Roma doesn't mean you're already in the Champions League, and losing doesn't mean you're out of it. It's another step in a long journey to still be competing for our goals come March. The first six months of the season are crucial because they lay the foundations for the run-in, and consistency in results is key. You can't win every game, sometimes, you have to settle for a draw."
