At Milanello powered by Clivet, it's the eve of the Rossoneri's season debut. Ahead of Torino v AC Milan, matchday one of the 2026/27 Serie A season, Rúben Amorim's press conference will take place. The coach's comments were broadcast live on the AC Milan Official App, YouTube and Milan TV from 13:30 CEST.
LOOKING AHEAD TO THE OPENER IN TURIN
"I'm excited and happy. I have complete faith in my players, they're working extremely well and they're ready. I know Abate used to play for AC Milan, so he'll know that at this Club you're expected to win every match. That's exactly what we want and what we have to do, focusing less on our opponents and more on ourselves. It'll be a difficult game, but we'll do everything we can to be ready, and I think it'll be a great contest because both teams want to play good football. We have to fight every Sunday for our supporters. We want to build a winning mentality: first we win in Turin, then we think about the next game."
THE TEAM'S IDENTITY
"The most important thing is to be an AC Milan team, where everyone works for the group rather than for themselves. We'll try to dominate possession and get plenty of players into the box, but I also want the team to defend well. We have to be a team at every moment, whether we're defending or attacking. We also have to respect the identity of this Club and control the game. You'll see things that are different from previous seasons, but it'll take time before you see the finished product."
INDIVIDUALS
"I love Cissè, and I think Gabbia embodies what it means to be AC Milan, in the way he carries himself, speaks and trains. Chukwueze isn't a defensive player in the traditional Italian sense, but we'll defend with the ball, and he's shown that he can do that. Moreira will play as a wing-back, but he can also play in other positions. Rafa isn't available and won't be able to help us. But the rest of the group is ready. The players who've just arrived have plenty of quality and are at the right age to keep developing. Right now, the most important thing is becoming a real team. I noticed straight away that there's great organisation here and that it already feels like a family. Everyone wants to help take AC Milan back to where it belongs. Now it's up to us to show that on the pitch, and results will help us do that."
CARDINALE AND HIS PRESENCE AT MILANELLO
"We all have to feel the responsibility that comes with being at AC Milan. It's important that Cardinale is here, that he speaks to the people working in the kitchen, to MilanLab and to the players. Everyone can feel that the owner is present, and that's an important part of building a strong Club."
