AC MILAN v COMO: MATCH PREVIEW

A tricky but crucial match: an in-depth look at the clash at San Siro

AC Milan are getting ready to face Como in Matchday 24 of Serie A, on February 18 at San Siro, kicking off at 20:45 CET. Allegri's Rossoneri are in good form and are looking to strengthen their position. The focus is on Serie A, here is the Match Preview.

LATEST FROM MILANELLO
AC Milan head into the game on the back of a run of positive results, firmly in second place and close to the top, with a small cushion over their rivals. Last weekend, the Rossoneri secured a 2-1 win over Pisa in the dying minutes, showing grit and determination. Before that, they also claimed a convincing 3-0 away victory against Bologna, confirming their excellent form. Massimiliano Allegri's side has been improving steadily and will aim to stay focused to continue collecting valuable points. Rabiot is suspended, a big miss, but Saelemaekers returns. Pulisic is still not fully fit, while Athekame and Fofana are on yellow card warnings.

"We need to prepare well so we can play to our best ability," said Coach Allegri. "It will take a disciplined performance. We're in the final months of the season, and from now on, the results will decide how the season ends."

LATEST ON COMO
Como head to San Siro after a disappointing 2-1  home loss to Fiorentina, following a frustrating 0-0 draw with Atalanta. Despite the setbacks and a slight dip in form, the team has shown it can compete at the top end of the table, as seen in their convincing 3-0 win over Lazio. The Larians will be looking to bounce back and trouble the Rossoneri with organised play and quick counter-attacks. Former Rossonero Morata is suspended, while Diao and Goldaniga remain out. Como are expected to stick with their usual attacking 4-2-3-1, with minimal changes. Nico Paz will be the key man, with Baturina and Douvikas also likely to make an impact.

"Playing well doesn't always meaning winning," said Fabregas, "we have to focus on doing things properly. Our journey isn't always straightforward. The road is long but rewarding."

PRE-MATCH STATS

  • AC Milan are unbeaten in their last 14 Serie A matches against Como (9 wins, 5 draws), winning each of the last five with an aggregate score of 11-4.
  • AC Milan are also undefeated in 23 consecutive league matches (15 wins, 8 draws). In their Serie A history, they have only recorded a longer run twice in a single season: 24 games between December 1950 and May 1951, and the entire 34-game 1991/92 campaign.
  • No team has earned more points than AC Milan against sides currently in the top half of the table (25 in 11 matches, level with Inter but in 12 games). The Rossoneri also boast the best defensive record in these fixtures (just six goals conceded) and are the only team unbeaten against such opposition.
  • After scoring against Pisa in the most recent match, Luka Modrić could find the net in back-to-back appearances for only the third time in his career across Europe's top five leagues, after doing so in January 2019 and December 2020 (both with Real Madrid).
