AC Milan made an excellent start to their league campaign, claiming a 2-1 away victory over the Granata at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. A quick-fire double from two midfielders - one a new arrival, the other a familiar face - decided the opening game of the 2026/27 Serie A season. The goalscorers were Alphadjo Cissè, who impressed on his first competitive start, and Adrien Rabiot, who came off the bench in the second half and also provided the assist for the opener. After 70 dominant minutes from Amorim's side, the hosts came into the game late on, with Adams scoring a superb goal to make it 2-1 in the final minute of stoppage time. The Rossoneri nevertheless deserved all three points, having controlled proceedings for long spells and struck twice in quick succession.
With a starting XI largely unchanged from the friendly against Manchester United in Wrocław - Gila replacing Terracciano was the only switch - the Rossoneri built on the encouraging signs shown against the Red Devils. Their work in possession was particularly impressive, with wing-backs Chukwueze and Estupiñan heavily involved and also performing well defensively. AC Milan moved the ball around effectively, completing over 90% of their passes and keeping their play consistently fluid and dynamic. There are still a few things to iron out, particularly when building from the back, but there were plenty of positives to take. The Rossoneri can now look ahead with confidence to their next fixture, when newly promoted Venezia visit San Siro on Friday 28 August for AC Milan's first home game of the season.

MATCH REPORT
The Rossoneri made a lively start, with Cissè shooting into the side-netting from a tight angle (2') before Mascardi punched away a Chukwueze cross (4'). There was a scare in the ninth minute when De Winter failed to clear Pedersen's cross, but Simeone was unable to take advantage. After the frantic opening, the tempo dropped, with AC Milan in control and Torino sitting back. The Granata defence blocked Loftus-Cheek's effort in the 22nd minute, while the opposition goalkeeper then denied an inspired Chukwueze after some fine individual play on the half-hour mark. The Rossoneri continued to make dangerous bursts forward in the final 15 minutes of the half, particularly through Cissè, but the deadlock remained unbroken.
There were no changes at the break at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. After Loftus-Cheek headed wide, Torino had a chance in the 53rd minute when Coco's knockdown found Simeone, who failed to make contact from a promising position inside the six-yard box. Ramos flicked on a fine Gila cross four minutes later, with the ball going behind for a corner that came to nothing. Rúben Amorim turned to his bench in search of a breakthrough, and one of his substitutes played a key role in the opener in the 64th minute: Rabiot found Cissè, who struck on the bounce with his right foot to beat Mascardi. Having scored the first, AC Milan quickly added a second. Just two minutes later, Chukwueze's left-footed cross picked out Rabiot making a run to the far post, and he found the net with a left-footed side-foot finish. Torino looked to respond, with Njie hitting the post in the 74th minute. Comuzzo (79') and Aboukhlal (84') also threatened to pull one back, but the hosts had to wait until the final moments, when Adams made it 2-1. At the final whistle, it was AC Milan who took all three points!
