Tireless. Davide Bartesaghi was named MVP of Udinese vs. AC Milan after an impressive all-around performance. He contributed at both ends of the field, making dangerous attacking runs and tracking back to help defensively. Having played the second half against Bournemouth, the No. 33 returned to the starting lineup and delivered an outstanding display, made even sweeter by the Rossoneri's impressive away victory.
Coach Amorim deployed him in a slightly different role than usual, positioning him in a four-man midfield. This gave Bartesaghi greater freedom to push forward and fewer defensive responsibilities, thanks in part to the reliable cover provided by Sankhoun Diawara, who was making his first Serie A start. Davide fully repaid his coach's faith, covering plenty of ground down the flank and coming close to scoring on several occasions.
His first chance came in the 12th minute, when he latched onto Pulisic's through ball but fired over with his left foot. Then, in the 26th minute, he and Pulisic got in each other's way as they attempted to meet Tomori's cross, missing the chance to double the lead. Both opportunities highlighted the energy and attacking intent Bartesaghi brought to the game, earning him a well-deserved MVP award.
Bartesaghi received 50% of the votes on the AC Milan Official App, finishing ahead of Christian Pulisic, who scored the opening goal, and Luka Modrić, who once again impressed at the Bluenergy Arena. His performance bodes well for the upcoming fixtures in Serie A and the Europa League against Bologna, Inter, Ferencváros and Genoa, before the second international break of the season. Keep it up, Barte!
