A night to remember. Diego Moreira is the MVP of AC Milan 3-1 Inter, having been voted for by the Rossoneri fans on the AC Milan Official App following the victory in the derby. It was an outstanding performance from the number 22, who played a part in all three AC Milan goals with one goal and two assists in one of the most important and thrilling victories for the Rossoneri faithful.
Diego made an immediate impact on the game. In the 4th minute, he created the opening goal with a brilliant run down the wing and a cross that Pulisic met with a header. Six minutes later, he took the corner from which Rabiot scored Milan’s second. Then, just before half-time, he capped a perfect evening with a magnificent left-footed free kick that cleared the wall and beat Martínez to make it 3-1. Quality, personality and end product, all in the service of coach Amorim’s team.
For Moreira, this is another highlight in an outstanding start to the season. Having already been named MVP of Lazio 2-2 AC Milan and won the Emirates MVP award for September, the Belgian once again demonstrated just how important he is to the Rossoneri. His display against Inter also made its mark in the record books: over the last 20 years, only Rafael Leão had previously been involved in three AC Milan goals in a Serie A Derby, underlining Diego’s influence on this memorable night at San Siro.
In the final vote, Moreira finished ahead of Adrien Rabiot, scorer of the second goal, Mike Maignan, who made several decisive saves, and Luka Modrić, once again instrumental in the team’s balance. A leader’s performance on the biggest stage. Congratulations, Diego!
