Super Christian Pulisic. AC Milan beat Slavia Praha at San Siro and his mark was there once again in the Rossoneri's success. The American midfielder has won over the fans and the coverage of the Europa League round of 16 first leg thanks to a performance of substance, quality and determination. And not only this, because the number 11 elevated his performance by scoring the fourth goal that sealed the match and extended the scoreline to 4-2, an important finish in light of the second leg.
Character and desire to make an impact. It was one of his dribbles that turned the game on its head in the 26th minute, accelerating away to cause Diouf's reckless tackle and forcing the Czech team to play with a man less. And when it looked like the energy was running out, Christian pulled out another piece of magic, finding a nice pass for Jović to start off the move that then went on to kill the game off after receiving an assist from Leão in the 86th minute.
The numbers are on his side: he also excelled in crosses (three), tackles won (two), ball recoveries (five) and fouls conceded (two) on the night at San Siro. There’s little else to be added, apart from a deserved round of applause. In the eyes of AC Milan’s faithful, expressed on the AC Milan Official App, he came ahead of teammates Tijjani Reijnders – scorer of the goal to make it 2-1 - and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who confirmed his love for the competition following a brace against Stade Rennais.
Obviously satisfied with having scored and with his performance, Pulisic did not say after the game he was completely satisfied with the ninety minutes at San Siro, despite the positive result, a symptom of the mentality of those who always want to provide their best. Overall, though, it is an excellent starting point for a season finale to be written and experienced. Keep it up, Chris!
