On a big night at San Siro, AC Milan and Inter played out a 1-1 draw in their first-leg meeting in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. One of the key performers of the evening was undoubtedly Mike Maignan, who shone between the sticks. Our goalkeeper made some decisive saves at key moments, once again demonstrating his importance to this team.
The Frenchman made seven saves in total, preventing Inter from scoring more than once. His quick reactions and impeccable positioning were vital, especially when he thwarted Frattesi, Mkhitaryan and Zalewski in the closing stages. His leadership on the pitch provided stability and confidence at the back.
The statistics speak loud and clear: seven saves and a constant presence in goal over the 90 minutes. His ability to read play and intervene at the right time made the difference, and, in doing so, he more than did his bit to keep AC Milan competitive in this season's Coppa Italia.
Maignan edged out Tammy Abraham in the race for the MVP award, with Youssouf Fofana and Malick Thiaw also among the nominees. His outstanding performance is certainly an encouraging sign heading into our next few matches. Well done, Mike, and keep it up!
