PALETTA AT SAN SIRO

The Argentine defender left some amazing memories

His final appearance at San Siro was in May 2017, more than three years ago now. But Gabriel Paletta has remained in the hearts of the Club and the fans. Professional, private, silent. Now he returns to San Siro tonight, this time he'll be wearing a Monza shirt.

In a few months, he'll be 35 years of age too. Paletta was on the opposing team when AC Milan became world champions. It was 16 December 2007 and the final of the World Club Cup in Yokohama, the Rossoneri beat Paletta's Boca Juniors 4-2. He went to Parma in 2010 before joining the Rossoneri in January 2015, when the Gialloblù were in dire financial straits.

A lad who formed a group off the pitch and gave everything on it. So Paletta is remembered with great fondness at Milanello, even today. After AC Milan 3-0 Bologna with the Argentina centre-back on the pitch at San Siro, he had one more occasion to savour in a Rossoneri shirt - In December 2017 in the Europa League, AC Milan played Rijeka away from home in Rino Gattuso's second game in charge.

One of Rino's close friends, Cristian Brocchi, is now Paletta's coach, who after his goal in the Derby against Como last season, is ready to head to San Siro, where he will be greeted with affection and love.
