A strong performance and a hard-fought contest, but ultimately a 4-2 defeat. On Matchday 3 of Serie A Women, Coach Bakker’s side fell to defending champion Roma despite going toe-to-toe with the home team in an open, attacking game. An outstanding two-goal performance from Christy Grimshaw, featuring a particularly memorable second goal, was not enough to prevent defeat at the Tre Fontane. The Scot also had two late chances to make it 3-3 before Roma struck on the counterattack to seal a 4-2 win.
The result leaves AC Milan on three points, but there were encouraging signs in the team’s play and character following the comeback win over Juventus last time out. Estévez Ogalla also made an outstanding save to deny Piemonte with the score tied at 2-2. Next up is a home game against Ternana Women on Saturday at 12:30 PM CEST at the PUMA House of Football, as the team looks to build on this display and get back to winning ways.
