Samuel Castillejo Azuaga, better known as Samu, was born in Barcelona in January 1995. After playing for youth teams at smaller sides, at the age of twelve Malaga scouts noticed the Andalusian player, and he made his debut in La Liga in a 3-0 loss against Valencia in 2014. Under the guidance of the expert Rudi Garcia, Samu managed to carve out good playing time in the starting eleven by serving up several winning assists to his teammates.
The following year he accepted an offer to join Villarreal, and over the next three years, he made a name for himself with excellent performances and more than 100 games for the Yellow Submarine. His speed and tactical adaptability convinced the Rossoneri to sign him in the summer of 2018.
With three seasons at AC Milan under his belt, the Spaniard has been appreciated as a major player on the wings, putting in reliable performances when called upon. Last season, Samu reached 100 total appearances for the Rossoneri at Old Trafford against Manchester United. By the end of the 2020/21 season, the Barcelona native had made 108 total appearances for AC Milan, scoring ten goals in all competitions.
