Following wins over Torino and Venezia and a draw away to Juventus, Amorim’s side now face another demanding test as they look to build on their early-season performances and underline their solidity and character away from San Siro. The game will also mark Mario Gila's return to the Olimpico, this time in Rossoneri colours and on the opposite side after his years with Lazio. Lazio have a perfect record after winning each of their opening three league games. The Biancocelesti beat Bologna and Genoa without conceding before coming from behind to claim a 2-1 victory away to Udinese. Gattuso’s side now return to the Olimpico looking to maintain their flawless start to the season. The 4-3-3 has been their preferred system so far, with Frattesi one of the standout performers: the former Inter midfielder has scored in all three opening games. In attack, Zaccagni and Isaksen can operate either side of the central striker, with Pinamonti back available after recovering from the knock he picked up in Udine. Guðmundsson, whose goal proved decisive last time out, gives Gattuso another option. Lazio have also shown both defensive solidity and the ability to respond when tested, as demonstrated by their comeback victory in Friuli.

Matteo Marcenaro, from the Genoa refereeing section, has been appointed to take charge of the game, which will be his 49th Serie A assignment. It will be the first time he has refereed a meeting between Lazio and AC Milan. He has previously overseen two Rossoneri league fixtures: the 0-0 draw against Empoli in April 2023 and the 1-0 win over Bologna in September 2025.
